You will be stunned by the range of cultural activities at WCDC2019 – all headed up by Alice Marra a singer, musician and choir director from Dundee who is best known for her work with indie-pop band The Hazey Janes. The Hazeys have been touring and recording together for nearly twenty years and have released five albums together. They also collaborated with Alice’s late father, Michael Marra on their Houseroom EP and more recently with Liz Lochhead on the EP, The Light Comes Back.

Alice released her debut solo album, Chain Up The Swings at Celtic Connections 2017, a collection of songs written by Michael and performed with a new incarnation of his Gaels Blue Orchestra. As well as performing and recording, Alice works with many different community choirs and is a founder of the charity, Optimistic Sound which raises money to support the Big Noise Douglas orchestra in Dundee run by Sistema Scotland.
